What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Charlotte says she loves when her and her team play “real softball”. Her coach tells them real softball is when everyone is playing hard doing their part and it comes together. The feeling when all their hard work shows off. As a multi sport athlete she also loves the feeling of a “good crossover” in basketball or beating her time in the 5k for her track team. In flag football, she says throwing a perfect spiral is her favorite. She loves the competition and is always working to better herself.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Charlotte says her biggest inspiration is her mentor Kendra Gominsky. Kendra and Charlotte meet once a week via FaceTime to discuss softball, school, and life. Kendra is a catcher at Idaho state and they instantly clicked from their love of the game and how they both started in baseball. Charlotte loves seeing eye to eye with another catcher who took the dream to college just as char hopes to do.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

My proudest moment of Charlotte was when she had to deal with overcoming a mental obstacle. All sports are physical but a lot of people don’t realize the mental aspect of sports. Char was very hard on herself taking every mistake too harshly. To a point I was ready to pull her out. She asked me to wait and give her more time. She spoke with her coaches, joined a program with a mentor, and came through it stronger. She eats, sleeps, and breathes softball but she doesn’t let it overcome her.
