What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreDance has given her so much more than movement. It has created lifelong friendships, taught her valuable lessons about dedication, perseverance, confidence and believing in herself. She loves the feeling of performing, expressing who she is through movement and sharing that feeling with the world. Most of all, she loves looking back and seeing how far she has grown, both as a dancer and as a person.
She is inspired by her teammates, who have grown alongside her while always supporting and encouraging one another. Her instructors have also played an important role, guiding, encouraging and believing in her every step of the way. She is also inspired by Tate McRae, whose talent, versatility and confidence as a dancer, singer and performer show her what is possible when you combine passion, hard work and dedication.
The two achievements that stand out most are her perseverance in overcoming a physical condition that developed into a mental block. She worked for years with physiotherapists and professionals to rebuild her strength and confidence. We are also proud of her representing Team Canada in Slovenia at the World Championships, where she and her team earned a bronze medal through tireless dedication and teamwork.
