Growing up as a military child meant moving around often, so finding a group of young men and coaches who provide consistency, encouragement, and mentorship has made being part of a team especially meaningful to him. For Christien, sports have given him more than competition, they have given him a community, mentors, friendships, and an opportunity to become the kind of teammate and leader he wants to be.
Christien is inspired by leaders and athletes who have faced doubts about their abilities or whether they measured up. Their dedication reminds him to keep working, stay humble, and focus on becoming better each day rather than letting the opinions of others define what he can accomplish.
What I’m most proud of is Christien’s ability to keep moving forward through life-changing challenges. He has worked hard to earn his place on the team, grow academically, and become a stronger young man. More importantly, he uses his experiences to advocate for others. He leads with his heart, shows compassion, and makes those around him feel supported and valued.
