What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreHe is an only child so he love the fact the he has teammates and he is building long friends. He also like that he able to do multiple events
Since he’s an only child, I think one of the things he loves most about track is having a team around him. He’s building friendships, making memories, and learning what it means to be part of something bigger than himself. He also loves being able to compete in multiple events and challenge himself in different ways. Watching his confidence grow, his dedication increase, and his love for the sport blossom has honestly made me so proud.
One moment that made me the proudest was during his long jump. He fouled on his first two jumps, so he only had two jumps left. I looked at him and gave him a little pep talk, reminding him that it was okay and that he just needed to focus on his next two jumps. He turned that frown upside down and gave those last two jumps everything he had! He went from being in 8th place to finishing in 3rd place! The smile on his face when he received his medal was priceless. He was so proud of his self.
