What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

The challenge of it all is what drives him—the constant pursuit of growth, the willingness to change, improve, and become better than he was yesterday. He understands that sports are about so much more than competition; they are helping shape him into the person he is meant to become. He loves the challenges, both physically and mentally. He embraces the moments that push him outside of his comfort zone because he knows that is where growth happens.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Colby’s biggest influences are his dad and grandpa. Their work ethic, integrity, love for their families, and desire to succeed not for themselves, but to provide for those they love, have shaped the man he hopes to become. Their marriages and devotion to their wives and children are a true example of God’s design for family. Colby wants to make them proud. He also looks up to hometown athlete John Bay and has followed his journey from high school and his journey to the professional baseball.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

If I had to choose one, it would be after a football game his 7th grade year. Colby played QB and gave everything he had. By the end of the 1st quarter, we had two of our starters injured and by the end of the game Colby looked like he’d been in a car wreck-bruised, exhausted and hurting. You could see the pain in his eyes but he held it together, knowing his team needed him to be strong and lead. The integrity shown by him that night was absolutely amazing. Proud doesn’t begin to describe it. ❤
