What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreWhat I love most about soccer and track is the feeling of improving and seeing my hard work pay off. Whether it’s getting faster on the track, improving my times, or becoming a better player on the soccer field, I like seeing the results of the work I put in. Knowing that every practice, workout, and challenge is helping me get better motivates me to keep pushing and see how far I can go.
Usain Bolt inspires me because even though he became the best at what he does, he stayed humble. LaShawn Merritt inspires me because he has personally taught me about the 400 meters and helped me become a better runner. My dad inspires me because he teaches me how to be a better athlete, work hard, stay disciplined, and keep improving. Not just in sports, but in everything I do.
One of my proudest moments was making the seventh-grade soccer team after getting cut in sixth grade. When I got cut, I felt horrible and wondered if I was even good enough. Instead of giving up, I kept working and came back the next year determined to prove myself. Making the team felt like I had redeemed myself, and having my friends there with me made the moment even better. It showed me that one setback doesn’t define what I can do.
