Sports teach you dedication, commitment, teamwork and so many life lessons. Getting to work on my skills both with my team and solo is preparing me for the real world. Eventually sports will end and the next step will be finding a career and hopefully have a family. Football teaches me endurance though pain and struggle. Basketball teaches me that putting in the work is what will help me reach my goals "next play mentality." Last baseball is a game of failure and teaches to get up and keep going
Fernando Mendoza-Outside of playing sports he is a person of good character. He faced a lot in his journey as well as watching the decline of his mother physically. Through doubt, transfers, and statistically low chances he held his high and worked hard to reach big goals. He worked hard with his team and did the impossible both winning a National Championship and a Heisman. He is always humble and always thanking the lord and his family realizing without both he will never be where he is today.
He is a strong competitor but an even better teammate. He suffered a tibial tuberosity fracture with a partial patella tendon tear in the semi-final of the County Championship. He was placed in a locked hinge brace with no movement for months. He attended the Championship game and was the loudest fan for his teammates while they went on to win that Championship. I am proud of him as an athlete but even more proud of the friend and teammate his is.
