What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Cortlyn loves the challenge, competition, and sense of belonging that football and baseball provide. He thrives on learning new skills, working alongside his teammates, and pushing himself to improve. More than winning, he values the friendships, discipline, and confidence sports have helped him develop. For Cortlyn, every practice and game is an opportunity to grow, compete, have fun, and become a better athlete and teammate.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Cortlyn is inspired by Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson, and Derrick Henry for their leadership, discipline, perseverance, and excellence in football. In baseball, he admires Elly De La Cruz for his confidence, athleticism, and passion. Off the field, Cortlyn’s greatest inspiration is God. His faith teaches him to remain humble, grateful, courageous, and grounded, reminding him that character and purpose matter more than any scoreboard.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One of my proudest moments in Cortlyn’s athletic journey has been watching him learn how to respond to adversity. When he experiences a difficult loss, makes a mistake, or struggles with a new skill, he refuses to give up. Instead, he works harder and supports his teammates. I am most proud that football and baseball are helping him develop resilience, discipline, leadership, humility, and strong character.
