What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreCJ loves competing, pushing himself to improve, and being part of a team. Whether he’s carrying the football, making a play in space, or competing on the track, he enjoys testing his limits. He also loves the brotherhood, the preparation, and knowing that every practice and workout gives him another opportunity to become better.
CJ is inspired by athletes who were overlooked but continued working until they earned their opportunity. He respects players who combine talent with discipline, humility, and consistency. Off the field, his family inspires him to keep pushing because they support his goals, hold him accountable, and remind him that success comes from the work he puts in when nobody is watching.
One of my proudest moments was watching CJ earn All-Region honors in football after playing only six games without starting, while also becoming his team’s leading rusher. He followed that by qualifying for track divisionals as a varsity athlete. Seeing him continue to produce, compete, and stay focused even when opportunities were limited showed me the kind of athlete and young man he is becoming.
