What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreAt just 10 years old, Cullen has already developed something that can take athletes years to learn: talent may get you started, but hard work, determination, and heart are what make you successful. As a three-sport athlete competing in hockey, lacrosse, and golf, Cullen demonstrates those qualities every time he steps onto the ice, takes the field, or walks onto the golf course.
Cullen truly loves to compete. Whether he is chasing a puck, battling for possession of a lacrosse ball, or standing over an important putt, he wants to challenge himself and see what he is capable of. He loves winning, but more importantly, he loves the process of getting better. He understands that improvement comes from practice, listening to his coaches, learning from mistakes, and being willing to keep trying when something doesn't come easily.
At 10 years old, he still has so much ahead of him, and that's part of what makes watching him compete so exciting. He isn't afraid to work hard. He isn't afraid of competition. Most importantly, through all the practices, games, wins, losses, great shots, missed opportunities, and lessons along the way, he hasn't lost the joy of playing.
