His dad. He’s shown him that integrity matters more than talent, that helping others without expecting anything back is just the right thing to do, and that hard work, discipline, and consistency can get you anywhere. That’s the standard he plays by.
His proudest moment came sophomore year, in the final game of the season — he finally ran the exact route he’d drilled all season, read the play, and came away with the turnover that helped seal the win for his team. But my proudest moment as his parent happened quietly, off the field: at the start of the season, he gave his extra cleats to a teammate who didn’t have any, and never told a soul. That’s who he really is.
