What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreDavid loves competing, being part of a team, and challenging himself to get better. He enjoys the excitement of game day, but he also likes putting in the work that leads to improvement. Whether he's on the football field, basketball court, track, or in the pool, he enjoys testing himself and contributing to his team.
David is inspired by Kobe Bryant. In his own words: "I admire Kobe's work ethic and his willingness to keep learning and trying new things to make himself better. He never settled—he was always working to improve, on and off the court. That mindset pushes me to work harder in every sport I play, to keep learning, and to never stop getting better."
One of my proudest moments was watching David and his teammates win their middle school football championship for Banks Trail Middle School. I was proud of the victory, but even more proud of the work, discipline, teamwork, and commitment it took to get there. Seeing him contribute to something bigger than himself showed me how much he had grown as an athlete and teammate.
