What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

What Daxton loves most about wrestling is getting stronger, learning new things, and having fun competing. He’s made a lot of friends through wrestling, even kids from other teams, and he loves getting to test himself at tournaments and see how much he can improve. Wrestling makes him feel strong, proud, and excited to keep getting better.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Jordan Burroughs and Bo Bassett inspire Daxton. He loves Jordan’s speed and long-distance attacks, and he loves Bo’s “machine gun mindset” move after move, nonstop pressure, and never giving up. He learns from great wrestlers, but he also wants to trust his instincts and build his own style. He works hard, stays humble, keeps God first, and wants to become the best wrestler and person he can be.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One of my proudest moments was watching Daxton come back on Day 3 of Western States after a really tough Day 2. He listened, reflected, reset his mindset, and wrestled with confidence and heart. After winning the championship, he raised his fist in the air, for the first time I could see how truly proud he was of himself breathing through the rush of emotions and holding back tears. That moment meant more to me than the medal because it showed his resilience, growth, and belief in himself.
