His family has encouraged and inspired him since he started playing in fifth grade. Before that he was encouraged to always strive to be the best ‘you’ he wanted it to be and to leave his mark on the world. With that said, I believe, inspiration comes from each and every person he encounters. Whether good or bad he always finds the silver lining and will continue to do so for the rest of his life. So, the answer to the question is, People, inspire him, everyday.
This past summer Deklan preformed a solo for the first time ever. He was attending band camp at a local university and stepped out of his comfort zone to play the piece. To me, it showed enormous growth and confidence. However, I must say I am always proud of him every time he puts that trumpet to his lips and steps in front of people to play on and off the field.
