What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreDemid loves the speed, excitement, and challenge of hockey. He loves being on the ice, competing with his teammates, scoring goals, and making great plays. Most of all, he enjoys learning new skills and seeing his hard work turn into progress. Hockey gives him a place to challenge himself, have fun, and become better every day.
Demid is inspired by Mark Stone, Connor McDavid, and Alex Ovechkin. He admires Stone’s hockey IQ and leadership, McDavid’s incredible speed and skill, and Ovechkin’s determination and passion for scoring. He watches how they play and tries to bring those qualities into his own game. They inspire him to work harder, think faster on the ice, and never stop improving.
What makes me proudest is watching Demid keep working even when things don’t go his way. He has faced tough games, mistakes, and disappointments, but he always comes back ready to practice and improve. Seeing an eight-year-old learn not to quit when something is difficult makes me prouder than any goal or win. His resilience is what stands out most to me.
