Learn MoreWhat they love about track is that he is able to focus on himself and stay in his lane. Growing up, Devin was super gentle around other kids. He was interested in basketball but found it difficult to be other people’s space and risk hurting them. Track allows him to focus on his skills without hurting others.
Off the field, Devin is inspired by his mother. His mother is an occupational therapist assistant specializing with geriatric population. Devin volunteered at the same nursing home. Watching his mother help people walk and do daily activities after significant trauma, he became very inspired. She did that and still managed to take her kids hiking, kayaking, traveling, and do things for herself, like run the NYC marathon and go to school for her 4th degree as a social worker.
I enjoying watching Devin grow in skills of the sport however, I really enjoy the confidence he has gained. The community of young men that he runs with, that he has grown close to, stays out of trouble and share aspirations surrounding college and the future in a positive way.
