What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Dez loves the excitement of competing, learning new skills, and being part of a team. Whether he’s on the football field, basketball court, or soccer field, he loves challenging himself and finding ways to get better. He’s naturally competitive, but what excites him most is making a great play, helping his teammates succeed, and knowing that all the practice and hard work are paying off.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Dez is inspired by athletes who combine talent with intelligence, discipline, and character. He admires competitors who work hard when no one is watching, lead their teammates, and never stop learning. Off the field, his family inspires him to believe there is no limit to what he can accomplish. Being both a gifted student and athlete has taught Dez that his mind can be just as powerful as his physical ability.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One of my proudest moments wasn’t a touchdown, goal, or win—it was watching Dez understand what it means to be a teammate. Seeing him encourage other kids, celebrate their successes, listen to his coaches, and keep working when something doesn’t come easily showed me the kind of athlete he is becoming. At only 8 years old, he already understands that being great isn’t just about talent. It’s about effort, character, resilience, and how you treat the people beside you.
