What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

My son loves basketball because he genuinely enjoys learning and growing within the game. He is constantly working to improve his skills, setting personal goals based on areas where he knows he can become stronger. He actively seeks guidance, constructive criticism, and feedback from coaches and others who can help him better understand his game. For him, basketball is more than simply playing, he enjoys the process of learning, challenging himself, and continuously working to perfect his craft.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

My son says LeBron James inspires him because he has played in the NBA for over 20 years while continuing to compete at an elite level. He admires the dedication and discipline it takes to maintain that longevity. It motivates him to work harder, get stronger, take care of his body, and remain committed to improving his game. LeBron’s career shows him that talent is only part of success; consistency, preparation, and dedication matter just as much, if not more.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One of my proudest moments was when my son was cut from his middle school basketball team. Instead of letting the disappointment define him, he used it as motivation. He spent countless hours practicing in our driveway, attending training, and going to the park early to work on drills. His determination at such a young age amazed me. He never gave up, and the following year, as a high school freshman, he tried out for JV and earned his spot.
