What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreWhat I love most about wrestling is the community. I’ve made friendships with people from all over because wrestling takes me everywhere. I also enjoy the challenge of competing against tough kids from different states. Every tournament pushes me to become a better wrestler and a better person
Gable Steveson inspires me because he won an Olympic gold medal and isn’t afraid to challenge himself. He’s competed in wrestling, football, WWE, and even trained for MMA. I admire that he never backs down from trying something new, and he’s exciting to watch because he gives everything he has in every sport.
One of the moments I’m most proud of was him winning his first national title. He actually missed weight by only 0.1 pounds, so he had to wrestle in the next higher weight class. At first, he genuinely felt defeated because he thought he was too small, but he didn’t give up. He ended up beating the bigger kids and won the tournament, proving to himself that heart and determination can overcome doubt.
