Eli competes nationally, but his biggest joy is lifting others up—he even taught his little brother and neighborhood kids to backflip!

What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreWhat Eli loves most is the feeling of accomplishing something he once thought was impossible. He loves learning new skills, competing, cheering on his teammates, and helping younger kids discover that same confidence.
Asher Hong inspires Eli because he shows him what’s possible through hard work, discipline, and never giving up. Eli loves watching him compete and often watches his gymnastics videos on YouTube to learn and get inspired. Seeing Asher perform at such a high level motivates Eli to keep practicing, improve his skills, and dream bigger about how far gymnastics could take him one day.
One of my proudest moments happened at a competition that would help determine whether Eli qualified for Nationals. During the meet, he hit his head and had to stop and be evaluated. After being medically cleared to continue, he chose to finish the competition. Watching him regain his composure, overcome the fear, and keep going showed me a level of courage and determination far beyond any medal or score.
