What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

What Elias loves most about wrestling is the challenge. He loves stepping on the mat knowing that he has to rely on his own preparation, strength, and mindset. Every match gives him an opportunity to learn, improve, and push himself further. He loves the feeling of accomplishing something he once thought was difficult and seeing his hard work pay off.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Elias is inspired by the people who believe in him and continue to push him to become better, especially his coaches and family. They remind him that success is built through discipline, consistency, and hard work. As his mom, I inspire him to keep chasing his goals, even when things get difficult. I want him to understand that his biggest competition will always be the person he was yesterday.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One of the moments that makes me proudest is watching Elias make it to the podium. Seeing him stand there with his medal was an amazing feeling, but I knew that medal represented so much more than one tournament. I saw the early mornings, the hard practices, the tough matches, and the moments when he could have given up but chose to keep going. Watching him stand on that podium, I wasn’t just proud of the wrestler he was becoming—I was proud of the young man he was becoming through it all.
