What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

She loves the thrill of the sport, she wants to be challenged, she loves being part of a team and giving and receiving support from her “sisters” and coaches! She loves that feeling you get when you hit a new skill and she loves to share and teach skills of those younger than her. She loves the team bonding opportunities that they get to do. Mostly she loves showing up everyday to have fun and be in her safe place with teammates and coaches.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Her papa really inspires her. Her papa passed away 2 years ago and she was the only granddaughter and they had a special bond. He was always in awe at everything she did always telling her how proud he was at the young lady she was becoming. He enjoyed watching her dance and tumble and listen to her read and loved how she always asked questions! She keeps his picture next to her bed and gives him a kiss every night and knows that he is watching over her as she works daily to make him proud

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

We are so proud of her comeback story. One of her last meets she was not a favorite of the judges but her coaches felt she did fantastic but her scores were not reflecting her performance. At 9 years old that was a tough pill to swallow and instead of quitting she turned it around and put in extra work and didn’t let her scores get her down. Then in May she went off to compete at the USA gymnastics state meet and won 1st place over all for Illinois at the age of 10!
