What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreMuch of her talent was self-taught. From a young age, she would spend hours in our yard practicing her skills by hitting off a tee and whirling an underhanded pitch. Her dad constructed a practice area for her, where she spent many summer days. She enjoys facing competition, executing pitches that keep batters from hitting, and has perfected some knarly pitches. Playing travel and school ball, she has met some of her best friends. She is happiest on the mound with friends she knows have her back
Izzy looks up to many athletes.
Izzy was a new 9th grader at her school when she ended up pitching for the Varsity team in the state championship. She is also a fierce third baseman. During the championship game, the score was tied, and she was on the mound, relentlessly battling the opposing batters for the win. The final moment captured by the TV station was the winning pitch, followed by her team running to her on the field—it was pure magic. This earned her the first of three consecutive years of "Pitcher of the Year".
