What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Ella loves volleyball because of the energy, competition, and connection it provides. As the setter, she loves working together toward a win, supporting her teammates, and growing as a leader. Volleyball has taught her communication, discipline, resilience, and how to learn from mistakes. It has also made her stronger physically, improved my confidence, and given her a positive outlet for stress. The lessons she's learned on and off the court continue to shape who she is.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Ella is inspired by her club coaches Gina, Sabrina, and Kristin, who have each helped her grow as a player, teammate, and leader. She also look up to setters Kayleigh-Shay Chang at CWU, Teagan Jaynes at Montana State, and professional setter Carli Lloyd of LOVB. Their court awareness, leadership, confidence, and ability to bring out the best in their teammates inspire her to keep improving and becoming a stronger, more complete setter.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Ella does not allow others to determine her worth. She perseveres through setbacks and comes back even stronger, each time learning to trust her own voice and believe in herself. Each season, I have watched her emotional intelligence grow on and off the court. She fights for the position she wants, puts in the work to excel, and continues developing the skills needed to become a stronger, more versatile all-around player, teammate, and leader.
