Learn MoreEmelia loves playing sports because they’re fun, challenging, and give her the chance to be part of a team. She loves meeting new people, making friends, learning new skills, and seeing herself improve. Sports push her out of her comfort zone, build her confidence, and give her a sense of accomplishment.
Emelia is inspired by Sophie Cunningham because she is strong, brave, a little weird, and never afraid to stand up for her friends. She is also inspired by TRU player and coach Olena Vasylenko for her strength, courage, and for building a life in a new country while doing what she loves. Most of all, her teammates inspire her by pushing, encouraging, and supporting her every day.
What I’m most proud of in Emelia’s journey is that she never gives up. She pushes herself, learns from her mistakes, and always comes back stronger. She’s an amazing teammate who supports others and stays focused on the next step, no matter how hard she gets hit or how tough things get. She’s also the kind of player who will stop to pick up an opposing teammate when they fall. I think the world would be a better place if we were all a little more like her.
