Join the CompetitionWhat he loves most is the challenge. Whether it's football, soccer, or baseball, he loves studying a new position, play, or skill and practicing until he understands and masters it. He is naturally self-motivated and enjoys teaching and pushing himself. He loves turning something that once felt difficult into something he can do with confidence. He also loves the energy, teamwork, and brotherhood of sports, and growing alongside his teammates through the wins, losses, and challenges.
He isn't inspired by just one person. He is inspired by dedication. He watches athletes in football and soccer accomplish difficult plays and studies the skill, practice, and perseverance behind them. Seeing others overcome challenges motivates him to believe he can do the same. He is also inspired by the people who show up for him. When I joined his football team as a coach and he first heard "Coach Erica," the pride on his face showed me that support can inspire him just as much as the athlete
My proudest moment was when his coach couldn't be there and, at only six years old, he set up cones and began leading drills himself. Kids of different ages and teams joined in, and he welcomed and encouraged everyone. Even when others weren't always kind, he remained positive and inclusive. Seeing his dedication turn into leadership at such a young age makes me incredibly proud. He doesn't just work to improve himself; he encourages others to grow with him.
