Learn MoreEsme loves the people as much as the competition. She loves being part of a team, pushing herself physically, and knowing her effort can help the people beside her succeed. She plays hard and isn’t afraid of a challenge, but some of her favorite moments are celebrating her teammates’ successes. For her, sports have always been about working toward something together.
Her teammates inspire her most. She genuinely admires the different strengths each person brings to the team and is quick to notice and compliment them. Their hard work, determination, and successes motivate her to work harder herself. She loves being part of a team where everyone pushes one another to improve, and she takes as much pride in seeing a teammate succeed as she does in her own accomplishments.
What makes me proudest isn’t one goal or one win, but watching the kind of athlete Esme has become. She competes fiercely and gives everything she has, but never at the expense of kindness. I’ve watched her make a hard tackle and then be the first person to offer her opponent a hand back up. That combination of toughness, sportsmanship, and genuine care for others makes me prouder than any statistic ever could.
