Esther plays her hardest to get the out, but if an opponent still gets on base she will congratulate and high five her.

What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreEsther loves being with her friends, chanting in the dugout together, and seeing herself grow in the knowledge of the game. Esther says fielding strategy and defense is her favorite part because she can try for all the outs.
Esther says her inspiration is her best friend Sloan and her mom. Sloan inspires Esther because they cheer each other on and help each other be better on the field and at school. Esther says her mom inspires her by always helping the whole team improve and not just one player. Esther’s mom has been her coach for 4 years.
Some parents say our young ladies shouldn’t be congratulating the other team by giving high fives; that we should be teaching them competition and good games come later. I’m proud that Esther doesn’t pay attention to that. She is competitive in every way on the field, but she can tell when another player has earned her spot on the base if Esther didn’t get her out. Esther respects the game and all of the ones out there playing it.
