What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreGabriel enjoys the basketball on and off the court. He loves the fast pace action of scoring buckets and getting those key assists, but also loves hustling back on defence and locking down his opponents. He also enjoys practice and training time. This is where he gets to learn new moves and practice them until perfection, get some shots up and watch game tape. He loves to study and analyze all aspects of the game especially because he comes from a family of basketball players.
Gabriel’s dad has always been his biggest inspiration. He watched his dad play college and pro and basically grew up on the basketball court. Gabriel could dribble at 2 and ever since then him and his dad have been training together. Gabriel always looks for his dad’s advice during trainings or even after a game.
There is no one moment. As a parent it’s a privilege to have a child who is as focused and determined as Gabriel is to perfect their craft and I think that’s what I’m most proud of. His biggest accomplishment was winning the AAU World Championships for his age group, and that is his own victory but I’ve really enjoyed watching him grow mentally and physically.
