Gavin is inspired by a few people who have made an impact on him. Coach Randy Hanson inspires him through his dedication, knowledge, and the way he encourages his wrestlers to work hard and believe in themselves. Jacob Morris inspires him through his success as a Fargo Junior Champion and by showing what can be accomplished through hard work and commitment. Gavin is also inspired by Clayton McGuire because of his great personality and the way he is always attentive and willing to help.
One of my proudest moments was watching Gavin compete at Western Regionals 2026. It was his first year traveling out of state to compete, and he took first place in the Boys U15 105 bracket. Seeing all of his hard work and dedication come together on that mat was incredibly rewarding. More than the win, I was proud of the confidence he gained from the experience.
