Genesis loved her 2nd grade teacher, who unfortunately lost her life to cancer. She wrote a speech about her at her 5th grade moving up ceremony. She loved how caring she was and that she continued to teach and smile even when she wasn’t feeling her best.
One moment that makes me the proudest as her mom is when Genesis became sick right before she was about to hit the stage at a major competition. I cried so hard for her because she trained really hard. She laid down for about 30 minutes, her team altered some of her tumble passes and she still decided she didn’t want to let her team down because we traveled so far and she performed so well despite her feeling so ill. She showed me her team spirit, but most importantly, just how strong she is.
