What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreWhat Gia loves most about volleyball is the challenge and the people who help her overcome it. In a game where mistakes are inevitable, the support of her coaches and teammates keeps her motivated. Encouraging one another through every win and setback has created a love for the game that will never fade.
Gia isn’t inspired by just one person. She finds inspiration in the best qualities of everyone around her; their strength, kindness, determination, and character. She observes what makes each person admirable and uses those qualities to motivate herself to keep growing as an athlete, teammate, student, and person.
The moment that makes me proudest is watching Gia return to the court after battling knee injuries and completing physical therapy. Volleyball challenges athletes both physically and mentally, but she refused to let pain, setbacks, or mistakes take away her love for the game. Seeing her persevere and become an even stronger, more confident player makes me incredibly proud.
