What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreFootball isn’t just her favorite sport, it’s where she feels closest to her dad. He introduced her to the game & coached her for years before he passed away. Now every practice & every game is another chance to honor him. She loves the strategy, the physical challenge, & proving that girls belong anywhere talent, hard work, & heart are required. She hopes one day to help build more opportunities for girls in football.
Her biggest inspiration is her dad, who introduced her to sports & coached her from the very beginning. He taught her to be fearless, work harder than everyone else, & never let being a girl define what she could accomplish. Although he passed away, she carries his lessons onto every field. Every snap, tackle, touchdown, & victory is another way she keeps his legacy alive.
The day her dad passed away, Gigi still had a basketball game. Somehow, through unimaginable heartbreak, she chose to step onto that court & played one of her best games. Sports had always been something she shared with her dad, so that night became about more than basketball. She carried everything he taught her onto that court. Watching her find strength in something they loved together is a moment I will never forget.
