What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

G loves competing, but even more, she loves discovering what God has given her the ability to do. She believes her strength and athletic gifts are blessings, and she honors them through discipline, hard work and being a great teammate. Flag football challenges her physically and mentally while teaching leadership, trust and perseverance. Powerlifting teaches her that limits can be pushed. Win or lose, her goal is to compete with purpose, give God the glory and leave everything she has on field.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

God is G’s greatest inspiration. Her faith is the foundation of who she is before she is an athlete. She looks to God for strength in adversity, humility in success and direction in the choices she makes. Her family, coaches and teammates inspire her too, but she knows her identity isn’t defined by a scoreboard, ranking or record. She believes God gave her these abilities for a purpose, and she wants to use them to compete fearlessly, serve others and be an example to the girls coming behind her

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

My proudest moment wasn’t a championship or record. During her freshman season, G broke her nose, prayed, stayed positive, and went back into the game for her team. That moment showed me her strength goes far beyond athletics. Watching her put God first, support her teammates and face adversity with courage showed me the young woman she is becoming. Records can be broken. Faith and character last.
