Learn MoreGunner’s favorite thing about hockey is simple: saving pucks! He loves being in the net, making a great save and knowing his teammates are counting on him. Being a goalie gives him the chance to challenge himself, learn something new every time he steps on the ice and, most importantly, have fun playing the game he loves.
Gunner is inspired by Sergei “Bob” Bobrovsky of the Florida Panthers. He loves watching Bob play goalie, make incredible saves and compete for his team. As a young goalie growing up in South Florida, getting to watch Bob and the Panthers makes Gunner dream about what’s possible every time he puts on his pads.
One of my proudest moments was watching Gunner’s hard work in goal lead to an invitation to join the 8U Minor Kings as their goalie. He has continued putting in the work through private lessons, practices and every opportunity to get on the ice. Seeing someone else recognize his potential was special, but watching how excited he was to take on the challenge made me even prouder.
