What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

What i love most about being on the track team is pushing myself to improve and seeing all of my hard work pay off throughout the season. As a discus thrower. I challenging myself to throw farther each meet and setting myself new personal records. This past season I threw a personal best of 103’8” as a freshman, 2nd in St. Joseph County, and had the opportunity to compete at New Balance Nationals in Philly. I love my team, coaches, and supporting my school by doing what I have a passion for.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

The person who inspires me most is Valarie Sion. Shes a D1 athlete and Olympic gold medalist in discus. She has shown me that hard work can lead to incredible success. I love the way she continues to push herself to improve while staying calm and focused. Watching her compete on instagram and YouTube motivates me to work harder every day and reminds me that with practice, determination, and commitment. I can continue building myself as an athlete and reaching my dream of becoming a D1 athlete.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One of my proudest moments in my athletic journey was during my freshman track season at the St. Joseph County Meet. Originally, I wasn’t supposed to compete, but after another athlete scratched, I was given the opportunity to step in. I stayed calm, and trusted myself, and threw a personal best of 103’8”, earning 2nd place overall as a freshman. That experience taught me that opportunities can come when you least expect them and that believing in yourself and coaches words can make a difference.
