What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreHappy loves most about surfing is being in the ocean, reading the waves, and sharing the lineup with friends. She loves that surfing challenges her to keep improving while still being fun. More than competition, surfing gives her a sense of community, connection to the ocean, and the joy of doing what she loves every day.
Happy is most inspired by her parents, who introduced her to surfing at a young age and have supported her every step of the way. She also draws inspiration from her coach, Lucas Taub, and the San Clemente surf community, whose encouragement reminds her to work hard, enjoy the process, and always have fun in the ocean.
The moment I’m most proud of is completing the 32-mile Molokai-to-Oahu paddle. Even though it wasn’t a surfing competition, it was the biggest physical and mental challenge I’ve ever faced. It pushed me beyond my limits and taught me the value of perseverance, preparation, and believing in myself. Crossing the finish line showed me that with determination and hard work, I can accomplish things I once thought were impossible.
