Join the CompetitionThe main sport she has played since she was 5 years old has been softball. She made travel at the age of 9 and has been on the same team ever since. To me that speaks volumes itself, because when a kid or parent doesn't get there way they leave. Life is about pushing forward, about not giving up when things are hard, and bottom line is working harder. She practices at home, she puts in extra work and she still trying new sports, she loves her team, she loves cheering them on making memories.
I think it comes down to watching other women in sports. Those who paved the wave before and the ones who continues to push through the narrative of girls in sports. Inspiration is what we see, but the motivation behind it is only something true athletes understand. Harlie watches female sports of all kinds, she hits on her off time, she works out on her own time. Her inspiration is the coaches she has had behind her who invest in her. No one can do this journey alone, it takes a village.
I don’t have just one, but its for each sport. In Jr High she tried out for basketball and ended up being the defensive MVP, and helping the school win 8th grade championship. Her 7th grade year she tried track and made it to Nationals and there placing 3rd in the 400 meters without any training, she hit two out of the park homeruns, her freshman year for softball. And for Flag she was on varsity as a freshman as the only rusher on the team, with the top freshman stats!
