What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Harlow loves gymnastics because it makes her push past fears and dream big alongside her best friends. She loves the challenge of taking something that once felt impossible and working at it until it isn’t. Beyond the medals and scores, it’s the friendships, the laughter, and being part of a team for a solo sport. Gymnastics is where Harlow feels most like herself.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Of course, Harlow is inspired by the incredible gymnasts she watches on the Olympic stage, but her biggest inspirations are much closer to home. She looks up to the older girls in her gym, learns from the girls beside her, & is even inspired by the athletes she competes against. She sees their strength & determination & it makes her want to work harder. Most of all, she is inspired by the amazing coaches who believe in her, challenge her, & continue to show her just how much she is capable of. H

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Harlow was once very terrified of doing a back walkover on beam. At one competition, she decided to be brave and go for it. So she did it! Later in her routine she fell doing something simple, but that didn’t phase her. She was beaming with pride for conquering a fear. She placed in the top three, but that didn’t matter. Watching her realize that being brave meant more than being perfect was one of my proudest moments as her mom.
