What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Hesstan loves hockey because it is more than a sport to him, it is where he has built friendships, learned discipline, and discovered what it means to be part of a team. He loves the competition, the speed and constantly challenging himself to improve. Some of his greatest memories have come from practices, road trips, tournaments, and time spent with teammates who became like family. Hockey has taught him to work through difficult moments, celebrate the victories, and keep going after losses.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Hesstan has been inspired by the coaches, teammates, family members, and mentors who have believed in him throughout his hockey journey. Coach Patrick Mudd had an especially meaningful impact on him, teaching lessons that reached far beyond the ice. He showed Hesstan the importance of hard work, accountability, friendship and being there for your team. Hesstan carries those lessons with him today. He is also inspired by the people who continue showing up for him, encouraging him through success.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One moment that makes me incredibly proud is watching Hesstan continue to show up for hockey through both the best and hardest moments. Losing Coach Mudd, someone who was much more than a coach, could have changed his love for the game. Instead, Hesstan has carried those lessons forward. Watching him step onto the ice wearing #77, supporting his teammates, working hard, and continuing to play with heart reminds me how much he has grown.
