Holland loves the challenge of learning new skills and pushing herself to improve. The joy of finally landing a skill she has worked hard to master is unmatched. Gymnastics gives her the satisfaction of challenging herself, while flag football brings the energy, teamwork, and excitement she loves. She enjoys working with teammates, competing together, and being part of a team.
Holland is inspired by Sunisa Lee and Katelyn Ohashi because they combine confidence, swag, and grace in their performances while overcoming adversity. She admires how they stay strong, embrace their individuality, and continue to pursue excellence despite challenges. Their ability to inspire others while being authentic to themselves is something Holland hopes to embody in her own gymnastics journey.
One of the moments that made me proudest was at State after Holland completed vault. Her score was lower than she hoped. Holland was upset, in tears, and yet she still had to compete her bar routine. She took a moment to ground herself, refocused, and attacked her bar routine with confidence and grace. Watching her overcome disappointment and finish strong showed me her resilience and mental strength.
