What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

She loves softball for so many reasons..... she can be her true self when she is out on the field. She loves the discipline that catching requires, and she excels in the excitement of rapid decision making that a catcher executes to help her team succeed. She is a team leader both on and off the field; she respects and loves her teammates. She is always there for her teammates and encourages them to be their best selves especially when a game is not going well.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Hope's teammates and coaches inspire her. She always wants to be her best on the field and off the field because she knows her team and her coaches rely on her, and she never wants to let them down. She is truly self motivated because she wants to be the best catcher, 1st baseman and 3rd baseman she can be so that her team can succeed.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

We are so proud of Hope. She has had hardships in her health as a 13 year old, but she never allows these health conditions affect her ability to play well. She always perseveres. She had one tournament last year where she was the only catcher for her team due to injury and had to catch for almost 7 straight games over 2 days. She never complained and maintained a positive attitude catching well and leading her team to the championship game!
