What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Hudson loves lacrosse because of its diversity and because he loves to learn. To play at his best, he gets to learn three very different games: the physical battle of box, the fast-paced technical field game, and the high-intensity speed of 6s, all while using the physical skills he already knows. Every game challenges him to learn, adapt and improve, and the never-ending seasons give him endless opportunities to compete and grow.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Hudson’s drive and determination come mostly from his mom, who has always encouraged him to work hard and keep pushing himself. His first coach, Norm, was also a huge inspiration and helped build his love for the game. Later, getting the opportunity to be on the court alongside professionals like Austin Shanks, Mike Messenger and Jake Boudreau, who took the time to coach, teach and encourage him, showed Hudson what’s possible and inspired him to keep learning and improving.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

The moment that makes me proudest is seeing Hudson learn to overcome disappointment and keep moving forward. Not making his provincial team was tough, but he refused to give up. He worked harder, practiced his skills, and kept pushing. Seeing him earn a Team Canada U15 tryout and ultimately make the team showed his dedication, determination and resilience, and made me incredibly proud.
