What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Hylton loves to compete and like most people loves to win! What he loves most about playing sports is the feeling of being part of something bigger than himself—the excitement of competition, the friendships he builds with his teammates, and the pride that comes from working hard and seeing that effort pay off. He loves to “train” as he calls it. He loves the energy and adrenaline and of course, is always looking for mom on the sidelines to cheer him on.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

On the field, he is inspired by his coaches and teammates. He is respectful, listens to instruction, and truly understands what it means to be an all-around team player. Off the field, his inspiration comes from athletes of all kinds. He genuinely loves watching sports and learning from the athletes he admires. There are times when he will search YouTube for NFL highlights or FIFA even fishing videos, not simply to watch for entertainment, but to study the game—almost as if he is watching film.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

What impresses me most about him is his determination and grit. He has always held himself to a very high standard, and when he doesn’t get something right the first time, he can be his own toughest critic. What makes me most proud, is watching him learn that success doesn’t mean being perfect from the beginning. He is learning that every great athlete starts as a beginner—as someone who is learning, making mistakes, and figuring things out. That’s the real growth!
