Her father is one of her greatest sources of inspiration. As her paddling coach, mentor, and leader at the kalo farm, he teaches her that being an athlete shows her the importance of discipline, hard work, humility, teamwork, and giving back to the community. Through paddling, he challenges her to push herself while reminding her working with kalo teaches her the value of aina and remembering her kupuna.
Iliau has competed in multiple countries against the world’s best paddlers. She placed 1st in her age division last year and again just a few days ago at worlds sprints - Singapore.
