What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

I love the friendships that I have in karate and archery. In karate I like to train to be stronger and improve focus. My training in karate directly affects my archery training adding more attention to detail and strength. For fun I love to ski and snowboard. Alternating between them allows me to be adaptable and forces me to practice shifting focus.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

My archery coaches are always supportive, helpful and encouraging and my karate sensi pushes me to be strong in my mind and body. My friends inspire me to train hard and love my sports. My brother loves sports too and he inspires me to do my best.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

In my last karate competition I performed one of my best katas (and I had only just learned the kata). My score was better than other competitors who were of a higher level (belt colour), and had been practicing that kata for much longer than I. I earned a gold medal!
