When you step onto that mat, there’s nowhere to hide, it’s just him, his training, and his mindset against the person across from him. Every win is earned entirely by his own hard work, and every loss teaches a direct, unfiltered lesson.
On and off the mat, I look up to David Carr. On the mat, he’s the ultimate model of resilience, skill, and composure. Seeing him win multiple NCAA national titles and navigate the toughest brackets in the country shows what happens when technical excellence meets pure mental toughness. He wrestles with incredible joy, passion, and energy, proving that you can compete at the absolute highest level without ever losing your love for the sport.
Watching him step onto that mat against guys who had been wrestling for years, carrying himself with total focus and grit, was incredible. Wrestling tests a person in ways few other sports do, and seeing my son handle the pressure, trust his training, and prove to everyone and more importantly, to himself that he belongs among the best in the state is a feeling I’ll never forget as a parent.
