What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreBasketball is more than a game to Jacob, it’s where he learns discipline, leadership, and how to make those around him better. He loves competing at a high level, but what drives him most is the opportunity to encourage teammates, overcome challenges, and continue growing. Whether he’s winning, recovering from an injury, or putting in extra work when no one is watching, he embraces the process because he knows greatness is built long before game day.
Jacob’s biggest inspiration is his dad. He played college basketball, but what inspires Jacob most is how intentional he’s been as a father. His dad always says he prayed for a son he could pour into and give what he didn’t have growing up. More than teaching basketball, he’s taught him integrity, humility, discipline, and that character will always matter more than talent.
The moment that made me proudest wasn’t when Jacob scored, it was when he chose not to. He had an open shot but passed the ball to a senior teammate so he could have the game-winning moment in his final season. That one play captured who Jacob is. He puts people before himself, celebrates others’ success, and understands that the greatest victories aren’t always the ones with your name attached.
