What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Being an equestrian challenges you in a different way than other sports. It's handling a 1300 lb flight animal that could be unpredictable and putting your trust and partnership to a precise test of specific movements or obstacles. It is that relationship or bond that goes beyond the placings that is so addictive.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

I would not be the rider or young man I am without my mom's influential guidance. She keeps an experienced eye on me as I practice to expand my own knowledge on being the best rider that I can be. She supports me when I'm frustrated so I learn how to get back on track. I in return follow the example she sets in her riding/handling of young to finished horses. My mom inspires me to be a good human to my fellow man and so many life skills from growing up on a ranch. It's more than just riding.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Aside from Jake's high level accomplishments, my proudest moments are watching him step into the leadership roles among his peers. Not only does he set an example on the leaderboard, but he encourages and supports others to join him in the top placings. It's watching him take initiative from videos to pictures, to helping set up obstacles, to offering words of support without being asked.He's proven himself a leader through action not only in words so that his whole team is being successful.
