What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreJames has always been compensated but struggled to find his place in school and in life. When he found basketball, it lit a fire in him and he realized that's all he wanted to do. James tried out for the 7th grade bb team in school but didn't make the team. Instead of giving up, it only made him work harder. He went to a summer bb camp, was on a summer bb league and trains with a Coach. He hope to make the middle school bb team this year. He practices daily and has a good attitude.
I know LeBron James is one of his Heros as well as Mike Tyson. I think its because they are the best at what they do because they were willing to train hard and make the sacrifice necessary to get to where they wanted to be. They knew nothing was going to be handed to them, so if they were going to be the best, they would be willing to do what others wouldn't. When he went to bb camp for a week, he came home much more responsible. He ate healthier, went to bed early and limited his screen time
James played on the Frederick County Parks and Recs Summer BB team and it was a pleasure to watch him grow as an individual player and also as a team mate. The team started counting on James more and more and not only am I proud when he shoots and makes the basket but if he doesn't have a great shot or there is someone open who is a better shooter than him, he is great with the assist. He was invaluable to our top shooters in that way and nice to watch him be a part of a team.
